Imagine If

Imagine if…

—the church truly loved the Lord;
and became passionate about the things He was passionate about.

—the church learned that God does not care so much about us “doing” church,
as He does about us “being” the church.

—the church wasn’t a place to go to, or an event to attend,
but a people to belong to and journey with.

Imagine if…

—the church was more about what happened the rest of the week,
apart from the Sunday gathering.

—the church didn’t have a building to gather in,
yet remained the faithful church in small pockets scattered throughout the city.

—the church was not only gathered, but sent.

—the church was people on mission with God, wherever they found themselves.

Imagine if…

—we broke down boundaries instead of creating them.

—instead of taking people to church, we took church to the people.

—instead of waiting for people to come to us,
we moved into the neighborhood as Jesus’ hands and feet,
giving flesh to His word and bringing His life into every nook and cranny.

Imagine if…

—instead of extracting ourselves from the world,
we positioned ourselves in it and remained present,
embracing its humanity.

—instead of existing in a bubble,
we lived in close proximity to the un-churched, the formerly churched,
the jaded and cynical, the lost, the broken, the sinner, the unbeliever-
forging genuine friendships with them, with no strings attached.

—instead of being so “full of ourselves” as Christians,
we emptied ourselves of everything but love,
and walked in powerlessness, humility, vulnerability and service.

—instead of remaining silent, we proclaimed the gospel to people
and invited them not to come to meetings,
but to come follow Christ.

Imagine…

—if people began to live bigger dreams—God’s dreams.

—if every joint really did supply.

—if, like Jesus, we genuinely loved and laid down our lives for others.

Imagine if… we truly lived without walls.
